Hello All!
« on: July 13, 2010, 09:37:05 PM »
I'm a new member here and have been reading the posts in the forums. I am a local historian of Kendall County and have been researching via local cemeteries dating back to 1829 (i.e. Elmwood, Aux Sable, Griswold, Graceland and Rosehill) putting together a book documenting the founding of Yorkville and Bristol townships. I am also looking into any connections with Cook County and Chicago during the 19th century. I'm not a believer in paranormal activity so this is not my interst in BG. But I'm trying to put together a glimpse into the infrastructure and way of life back at the time that BG was established and the area surrounding Chicago was gathering homesteaders. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you'll be a very busy researcher David :)

One tip I can give you is to read the publication Where The Trails Cross from the South Suburban Genealogical and Historical Society.

The main page to their site is:

http://www.ssghs.org

Here is a page to the Where The Trails Cross publication:

You can also find a few issues available for download in the Archives over at http://www.bachelorsgrove.com if your focus is more about Bachelors Grove. Just use the search engine on the site or use the Advance Search at Google.com for a text version of the PDFs (The current versions at bachelorsgrove.com are photographic scans but Google offers search-able tricks for you).
