Blue Orb?
« on: November 06, 2007, 07:26:49 AM »
OK, OK, I know I have been kinda ranting about "orb" photos, but this one from early this year caught my eye.  I kept thinking it's just a shadow cast by the background when I first took it, and I am still for the most part convinced it is but...... hmmmm...  maybe enough of me doubts or wants to believe?  It just doesn't seem to fit in easily with the rest of the background.  No doctoring was done beyond resizing it to fit on this page....

And here is the "orb" portion circled....

Ummm... what pictures of orbs?  I have been through your site and did not see any.  As for the "strange mist" in the BG pic, I got that, too.... it was our breath...

In any case, I wish that someone with some real knowledge would rate these pics...

i can see the orb.. and it definitely isnt the typical orb you would see from flash or moisture, which is what most people are expecting.. those seem less credible imo anyway.. so you might have something!! that being said, it might be part of the tree coming across from behind the fence. looking right next to it, i think there is a tree branch that is lying horizontally.. i guess its hard to tell unless you can zoom it up and crop it for us..

Can't rely on orbs as paranormal evidence.

First, yeah, I know this is an older thread... =)

IMO this looked like part of the shadow from a tree peeking through - sometimes background objects can create quite an illusion to people wanting to see something, or someone whos hopeful to catch something on film. I've got some crazy pics, but most can be attributed to background objects, lighting, etc.

But, I'd like to say something re: the link posted above about Orbs.

On the site it says:

Q: What is an orb?

A: An orb is a ball of spiritual gas.

Well... I'd like to debate that - if thats the case, orbs are what keep me from going to church - ya hear all kinds of 'spiritual gas' there being 'preached' weekly. (Ha ha, bad religion joke - spiritual gas, get it? ) Sorry... but seriously...

Some believe they are evidence of ghosts - which in itself is in debate - whether orbs exist even (as compared to moisture/dew, dust, etc.)

But those who do most often attribute them to 'energy' not 'gas'. Gas would likely visualize as a vapor - not as a circular singular particle. (I could go into a bad joke about Chorus Line lyrics... One, circular sensati... NM. I said I COULD.. but I wont.)

=) Not to nit pick, but if offering reference, Im in the opinion of: attempt to debunk first, then offer factual information.
Im a serious skeptic who wants to believe, but I'd like to see it for myself before I believe a thing.

I had actually posted the photo and made the claim of the "blue orb" mainly just to sound as ridiculous as possible.  It was during a time when a lot of folks were posting any ole photo that had anything resembling something white and round..... kinda like Santa Claus!  I wanted people to start arguing with me about it so I could make more ridiculous arguments in its defense.... That didn't work out too well....

Since it wasn't an outright "hoax" created in photoshop I'll let that one slide :)

LOL Orbs are always interesting for discussion - but the site posted indeed needed some clarification, IMO.
I think Im going to go out occasionally in some different types of weather and see what types of 'orb phenomena' is associated with the different weather conditions. I'd like to see in photos what looks like what - moisture, dust, etc.

Could be interesting as reference.

One should always be skeptical of orbs on film because they could be bugs, dust balls, etc. However, if someone is filming an unsuspecting person who has an irregular (not round) orb that is circling around him in a peculiar way, backs up, then slams into that person in a deliberate way, causing a slap, hit or pushed feeling, I see one of 2 scenarios possible: 1)  the orb is created using computer techniques, and the bystander is acting on cue; 2) it may be a paranormal event with an agitated spirit. I wouldn't expect dust, bugs or moisture to behave this way.
