May 2nd 2009 Clean Up
« on: April 03, 2009, 08:03:38 AM »
A clean-up has been scheduled for May 2nd 2009 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The clean-up will consist of removing the trash that has been left behind by visitors to the cemetery. The main areas of attention will be the cemetery itself, the general area outside of the fence and the main path leading to the cemetery. Cleaning up the pond has not been added to the schedule. It is being reserved for a future date where all efforts can be focused on just the pond itself.

The only items you should bring are a pair of gloves, a few garbage bags and possibly a pick-up stick if you have one. This part of the season gives us the opportunity to remove a lot of trash before all of the bushes and weeds set in making it difficult to reach areas that don’t get trimmed.

Further details about the May 2nd clean-up will be announced as the date approaches. If you haven’t signed up to be a volunteer you may miss out on some of those details. If you wish to become a volunteer simply visit http://http://www.bachelorsgrove.org/volunteers/

This is something I'd be interested in participating in.

Question, if we e-mail that address and sign up for the GRP, are we obligated to show up? Like will they be expecting us? Or does one even have to sign up for the GRP to participate, or could one just show up on May 2nd on a whim? The reason I ask is because I don't really know if I would be able to make it or not. I wouldn't want to commit to something and then not show up if I couldn't make it...

If you sign up as a volunteer you are in no way obligated to show up. But by signing up it will let you become better informed of what is happening with the clean ups. Visiting the web site and reading the main page will not always give a volunteer all of the information they are looking for. It will also give volunteers the opportunity to be given credit for helping take care of the cemetery by having their name on the web site. All volunteers deserve credit for their hard work!

If you simply show up to help out and don't send in your information that is perfectly fine. The goal here is to help take care of the cemetery so it doesn't matter either way.

Pete

Hey I went to BG today 0516 and was sure surprised to see the trees removed from the cemetery and in front of the gate wow what a difference. I can see there is a lot of work to be done yet to make the place look like it should. The time I was there was really nice and could hear a lot of song birds singing. I actually saw a indigo bunting a very beautiful little bird on the trail coming in. After I walked through the cemetery and checked out where the trees were and see the improvement I walked to the creek. The water was too high for me to cross because of all the rain we had so just hung there for a little while and low and behold across the creek there were 4 large deer just grazing in the forrest checking me out. Just getting over the flu I did`nt stay very long but had a enjoyable time.
