Comparing experiences...
« on: September 25, 2009, 10:17:00 PM »
Hey, has anyone out there had an experience elsewhere that was weirdly like one they had in BG? Not just a creepy feeling, I think most of us have had that. But catching photos, or feeling like you were encountering the same thing you had elsewhere... Or gone elsewhere and caught yourself thinking  that something happened that you know someone experienced in BG? Visited elsewhere that is plagued by the same human problems as BG?

Would you be referring to Waverly Sanatorium?  Although I have never been there (came close in 2007 but was too tired after attending the Police concert in Louisville), I suppose it is one of the "haunted" places listed in various paranormal tour guides and has fallen on some hard times in regards to vandalism and such.  Much like BG, there is a restoration effort - albeit by a private entity vs. the FPD here.  I suppose it is a peculiar and abandoned place like BG, but I find BG to be even more peculiar because of the oddness of its placement.... I guess that is what draws me to BG.... No "weird" feelings, though.  I guess I got a bit tense the few times I have been there after hours due to, you know, it being kind of lame for someone in his 30's to get his first misdemanor trespassing ticket....

I have had the feeling of being watched at BG and other places I have been to. I`m sure a lot of people have had the same experience that I have had but I can say I have not seen anything paranormal at BG as of yet but hoping.

One very strange experience at the Grove... and a few other odd feelings at other cemeteries. I'm very used to being places at night - and am not the kind of person to get 'scared' or creepy feelings at a location, day or night. I have had several feelings of not being alone at a few cemeteries when I knew I was absolutely alone.

There was a local cemetery that was 'unloved' when I was in high school, and now, its very well maintained. You can see the effort that has gone into replacing tipped markers, etc. You kind of have to disregard your 'unbalanced' feeling when you visit this place as the ground is completely uneven, and the stones seem to point in every direction giving you somewhat of a 'Funhouse' effect as you walk around the location. Particularly at night. However, it still has many stories... mists, shadow figures, etc.  I have been there many, many times - and even HAD a Geocache at the back of the location. I one time was there, checking the cache out - someone had dropped a coin in it I wanted to log. It was dusk, still plenty of sunlight. On my way BACK from checking the cache, I had an overwhelming feeling of being followed. This is a very safe area, and I wasn't 'afraid' but I felt how you would feel if you had someone walking behind you on an empty street. No one in the cemetery, and I would have clearly heard someone moving through the thick wooded areas alongside the cemetery.

So.. it was very strange. I got back to my car, and just sat there a moment. I usually absolutely trust my gut, as Im not one to overreact, or startle easily. (My only fearful time caching was when I had several coyotes trailing me down a trail - on all sides! I was a little shaken then!)

So - this is an interesting discussion! Hope to see what anyone else has to say!

Might I add... the 'feeling' I had is not enough for me to classify it as an 'experience'. Simply an odd sensation that happened to me while I was at a certain location. Who knows what made me feel that way. But, I don't like to sensationalize something that may not have been a notable happening.  I always wonder what sometimes gets normal people to react or have different sensations in different areas - aside from actual 'experiences' at locations. Particularly people who don't scare easily, or who are used to being out at night, etc. (Obviously someone who isn't used to going outdoors at night is likely to scare, startle, or 'creep out' more easily!)

Still, interesting!!

Yeah, I have had the very strong feeling of being watched in certain spots at BG and elsewhere... I don't usually get creeped out in the woods either. I'm still hoping that something more will happen:) Who knows, maybe in the end BG isn't haunted at all, just a lot of residual energy left behind by all the folks that visit

cheers

Who knows - all I know is speaking of BG specifically - its a great location to look more closely into.
I always find it amazing that it seems like people go there to visit daily - there must be something to the grove, as I cannot think of any other location that is so visited, and so 'legendary' for experiences.

But then, it goes back to the pondering of 'How many people see something because they WANT to so badly'?

However - it would benefit if all visitors followed the 'Leave Only Footprints' motto. IMO - even leaving things/mementos on the stones is littering - even if done with good intent. (Which is a whole OTHER topic!)
