Bachelors Grove Event - FRIENDS OF THE FORUM
« on: October 06, 2009, 07:43:22 AM »
For those of you that live in the city of Chicago, or elsewhere, and haven't had a chance to make it out to any of the events due to a lack of transportation there is a Metra train station directly across the street from Fox's.

If you plan on attending PLEASE let me know ahead of time so that I can call to reserve more seats. If it is possible that you are attending, but are still not sure, let me know anyway.

Below is the address to Fox's and information about the Metra train station. If you happen to show up late just tell the hostess that you are there for the FRIENDS OF THE FORUM event. Dress casual as this is a relaxing event. Each person is expecting to pay their own check for food and drinks.

Event: FRIENDS OF THE FORUM
Date: Friday, October 16th 2009
Time: 6:00 P.M. until ???

Surprise Guest: PARANORMAL INVESTIGATOR
(with a special relationship to the history of Bachelors Grove cemetery)

Fox's Restaurant & Pub
9655 W. 143rd Street
Orland Park, IL 60462

Food Menu:http://www.foxsorland.com/site/index.ph ... tml/5/Menu

Maps to find Fox's in relationship to where Bachelors Grove cemetery is located

The cemetery is located on the same street as Fox's so it is easy to find. But here are some maps to help you just in case you need them.

Google Map: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&sourc ... e&resnum=1

Metra Train Schedule - Departure from Union Station:http://metrarail.com/content/metra/en/h ... ubmit.y=14

Orland Park 143rd Street Train Station

You can always choose a different departure station from the drop down menu on the Metra web site in order to find the correct schedule to the Orland Park 143rd Street station. As a tip, if you are leaving from Union Station then you may want to depart at 5:00pm. Remember, you will want to make sure that you get off at the Orland Park 143rd Street station.

The Friends Of The Forum event was inspired by members of the forum. So this particular event has never occurred before. Based on past events such as the Grove Restoration Project picnic my guess is that we will get around 10 people on the 16th? Some of the volunteers wanted a restaurant to sit at instead of a picnic so it's possible that when a notice goes out to the list of GRP volunteers we may get 20? There is, however, the issue where some people live in the city of Chicago and they want to attend stuff but they don't own a car. I hope they are watching the board as this would be a great opportunity to utilize the Metra train. If they do attend then it's possible that we would have around 30?

Right now it's all speculation as to how many will attend. But overall, it's all about just sitting back and having fun so even if we get 10 people that is fine by me :) I'm simply happy to help out members of the forum organize a friendly gathering and attending it to chat about all different things.

You think you may be attending?

Pete

Ummm... are we still meeting at the Rubio Woods parking lot at 4:30PM or has it all been shifted to the restaurant? I will be there, of course, but I was just wondering if we are nixing the cemetery walk through...

We are still meeting at the cemetery. Those who participate in the forum and read the original thread would figure it out. Otherwise I was keeping it simple for people that only want to visit Fox's.

People are going to meet up at the cemetery at 4:00pm to just take a walk around the general area. I originally thought that everyone was going to meet "inside" the cemetery itself so that nobody had to wait for anyone in particular but I could be wrong. If anyone on here would like to clarify what everyone had in mind please post away.

After the walk, which will probably end around 5:30pm, everyone will be heading out to Fox's in order to arrive there at 6:00pm. That's when the party begins  :D

Some of you have asked for it in the past and it looks like you will get it...

You should be expecting a very special guest to the event! So be sure to arrive at Fox's at 6:00 P.M. if you want your chance to say hello and shake their hand in appreciation for some of the material that they have donated to the Bachelors Grove Archives. Your special guest has also been very helpful in documenting various paranormal activities relating to Bachelors Grove cemetery for many years...

Remember, please post a message or email the web site if you will be attending so that we can reserve you a seat.

See you all on October 16th!

Pete

OK - We discussed it in chat, and I believe we decided to meet IN the Cemetery. Pete, please correct me if I'm wrong, but we figured this would allow us to take a look around the area while waiting on others to arrive. (Rather than sit in the parking lot.)

This is going to be a blast, and here we sit, around a day away! As I've said - if everyone enjoys themselves, I'd like to see these become a regular event - even monthly.

And - VERY exciting news Pete! =D

:)

I really had a great time yesterday! Sorry that the noise level was a little high for everyone to hear and I will try to make sure we get the other room next time :) But I hope everyone else had a great time!

I had no idea that the place had such a haunted history and I want to thank Zsa for sharing her personal encounter! It was amazing! And to have employees stop by the table to talk about the paranormal activity was very unexpected for me. When I saw Dale Kaczmarek's ears pop up when she started telling her story I got a sense that there was a bit of a history project in the making

Again, I hope everyone had a great time and I look forward to more Eat & Greets in the future!

Steve sorry you did`nt make it we all had a nice time and the food was good. The group of people that were there were really nice and we just let our hair down. Hopfully you will be able to make the next one and meet some great people. Pete we need to have a lot more of the Meet, Greet and Eats a very good time for all.
